Your browser. Your videos. Inside Steam Frame.

Vira Browser combines everyday web browsing with a built-in VR video player, designed for Steam Frame. Find a video, open it in immersive view, adjust your viewing setup, and return to browsing—all within one app.

Built natively for Linux ARM64, Vira runs on the headset without a Windows compatibility layer. Supported video formats use hardware decoding.

Browse comfortably in VR

  • A familiar browser: tabs, an address/search bar, back and forward navigation, and page zoom.
  • Keep your place: persistent cookies, website sessions and saved tabs in normal browsing.
  • Your sites, close at hand: bookmarks and history in a separate library panel that you can show or hide.
  • Incognito mode: a separate private browsing session.
  • Made for Steam frame use: controller navigation, joystick scrolling, an on-screen keyboard, and browser distance and recenter controls.

From a webpage to an immersive video

Use Play in VR to open a supported video in the integrated player. Supported website fullscreen and VR controls can also hand video over to Vira.

  • Flat-screen, 180° and 360° viewing modes.
  • Mono, side-by-side and top-bottom video layouts, with eye swapping.
  • Playback, pause, timeline seeking, volume and 10-second skip controls.
  • View adjustments including zoom, positioning and recentering.
  • Video quality selection when the source exposes compatible alternatives.
  • Return to the browser to keep exploring.

Designed for Steam Frame

Required: a Steam Frame headset running SteamOS, compatible controllers, and an internet connection for websites and streamed video. This is the native ARM64 headset edition, not a Windows, macOS, Quest or general-purpose Linux desktop release.

The native player supports compatible H.264, HEVC and VP9 streams.

Website compatibility

Vira is a browser and player; it does not include video content or subscriptions. Websites may require an account or their own paid subscription.

Playback inside a webpage and playback in the immersive player use different paths. A video that works on a website may not support VR handoff. DRM-protected services, site verification, access restrictions and changes made by websites can limit playback. Support for every website, video or resolution is not guaranteed.

Help and feedback

Use the comments below to report a problem or ask a question. Include your Vira version, whether the issue happens in the browser or VR player, the selected quality and the exact error code. Share a public video link only if you are comfortable doing so. Never post passwords, session cookies or private browsing logs.
